China To Mint 2 Million Ounces of Silver Coinage This Year
China will issue 10 series of commemorative precious metals coins this year, including 21 types of silver coins, according to the People’s,Bank of China. The commemorative coins, which also will be minted in gold, and platinum, will include many themes such as Chinese customs, the Peking opera, the giant panda, the Guanyin Buddha and Chinese grotto art. More than 2 million ounces of silver will be used for coinage this year, up 474,000 ounces from 2001.
