Summer Maple Leaf Coin Issued
Following the success of its ‘autumn’ coin, the Royal Canadian Mint has issued a Summer Silver Maple Leaf Colored Coin. The $5 coin features the Maple Leaf on a 99.99% pure one-ounce silver coin. “We are very proud of the innovative colored coin designs which have proven to be so popular
with collectors,” said Danielle Wetherup, President of the Royal Canadian Mint. The new coin features leaves in brilliant green hues, depicting Canada’s summer foliage. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Dora de P. Dedery-Hunt. The first of a series of Maple Leaf Bullion Coins were introduced in 1979, and the Mint claims they are the purest silver
coin in the world. The Summer Silver Maple Leaf Colored Coin has a limited mintage of 30,000
and is available directly from the Royal Canadian Mint for $34.95 ($22.95 US) by calling 1-800-267-1871 in Canada, 1-800-268-6468 in the US, or www.mint.ca.
