Sunshine's Simko Elected Silver Institute
President

John Simko, President
and Chief Executive Officer of Sunshine Mining and Refining
Company in Boise, Idaho, has been elected President of The
Silver Institute. Simko succeeds Jaime Lomelin, President
of Industrias Penoles, S.A. de C.V.
Simko has been President and CEO since1992
after taking over as President and Chief Operating Officer
in 1991. Prior to joining Sunshine, he practiced law at Elam
& Burke and Evans, Keane. Both law firms are in Boise.
Simko was also Assistant Attorney General for Idaho. Sunshine,
through its Sunshine Precious Metals, Inc. subsidiary, owns
and operates the Sunshine Mine and Refinery Complex in the
Coeur d'Alene Mining District of northern Idaho. The Sunshine
Mine has been operating for more than 100 years during which
time it has been the largest silver producing mine in North
America. The company has recently been active in South America,
opening exploration offices in Lima, Peru and Mendoza, Argentina.
