Silver Nanotechnology Working Group
The Silver Nanotechnology Working Group (SNWG), initiated in January 2009, is an industry effort intended to foster the collection of data on silver nanotechnology in order to advance the science and public understanding of the beneficial uses of silver nanoparticles in a wide-range of consumer and industrial products.
The SNWG has had a very successful year serving as the liaison between our SNWG members and the EPA. We have brought together industry data as well as relevant data from the scientific literature and submitted it to the EPA. SNWG members have met with EPA throughout the year in an effort to educate and transmit information about silver nanoparticles to the staff members. These efforts culminated in an invitation to present a case study on nanosilver at the OECD Workshop on Nanomaterials in September 2009, and most important the SNWG gave a formal presentation during the Public Comment period at the FIFRA Scientific Advisory Panel Meetings November 3-5 in Washington, D.C.
